Jerry and Lisa Williams

Nomination:

I believe that Jerry and Lisa Williams are an inspiring couple for many reasons. I met them in 2002 when they brought me and my sister into their home as foster children. They have had many foster children over the years, and these children (now adults) still keep in touch with them. It is so inspirational to me that they can open their home to children in need. Not only do they do this, they fill their hearts with love, and try to make them feel as normal as a foster child can. I don't know that I could do what they do…with all that goes into being a foster parent, it can be hard on a marriage. But they work as such a great team providing for these children and for their own children as well.

Along with winning battles for their children and foster children, they have had their own battles to fight. Jerry was diagnosed with Prostate cancer a few years ago, and when I first met Lisa, she had been diagnosed with Breast cancer…they both have overcome their personal fights with this disease.

It just amazes me that they can go through so many tough times in their lives but their marriage is still as strong and their love for their family is still bountiful.

In November 2011, Jerry walked me down the aisle to start my own marriage with my wonderful husband. We can only aspire to be as wonderful as these two people. Always optimistic, always understanding, always there for their children, and always in love with each other. I can only hope that my husband and I can have a marriage like theirs.
