Oklahoma's Most Inspiring Couples

Have you been inspired today? Inspired to be a better husband, wife, son, daughter or friend?

The following couples were nominated by their peers because of their commitment to their marriages - through better and worse, in sickness and in health, and with a zeal for life and love. We encourage you to learn from their experiences, words and advice. In interviews throughout the duration of this project, a common theme emerged: having a great marriage is a choice, which takes a lot of work some days and perhaps less work on others. However, the decision to be committed is deliberate, a mindset...and the rewards are incredible.

The Oklahoma Marriage Initiative (OMI) is a statewide effort to improve the well-being of children by strengthening marriages. Research shows that on average, children who are raised by both of their parents are less likely to live in poverty and to experience negative outcomes into their adolescence and adulthood. The OMI has become the longest-running and farthest-reaching effort of its kind in the country, having served more than 200,000 Oklahomans from all walks of life and with various needs based on their life stage or circumstance. Programs are offered to married and engaged couples, youth in high school and college, prison inmates and outside partners, adolescent first offenders and their parents, members of the military, clergy and church congregation members, adoptive and foster parents, parents of special needs children, business employees, members of minority groups and more.
